Unemployment is Temporary
The job I got is a part-time gig, but it will bring in some money and lead to a full-time sort of arrangement if I manage to impress my boss. It's so nice to know that I have somewhere to go a few days a week and that there will be some money coming in. Unemployment really does suck. Anybody who tries to tell you otherwise is full of it.
So it can be done. In my case, what worked was networking. At the end of the day, it's all about who you know and what they know about what you know. Anyone out there who is feeling discouraged should take heart. Keep plugging along, stay in touch with your friends and colleagues, and things will work out for you! Unemployment is not a permanent situation; all you need to do is get through it, survive.
Even though I'm no longer unemployed, I will keep the site up, and I hope that someday somebody will find it useful. We've got over 30 registered member-bloggers now, but nobody has really stepped up and gotten active yet. It's here for you if you want to use it.
Now I'm off to celebrate.
