the job lottery

finding a job, playing the lottery -- what's the friggin' difference? The odds seem roughly the same. Actually, the odds of winning the lottery are probably better -- I think they're about 1:8 in most states. If I got one in eight jobs I applied for, I'd have 300 jobs by now.

Hey, let's look at the bright side: The odds of hitting the lottery jackpot by buying a ticket are about the same as those of finding a winning ticket in the garbage. If this joblessness thing continues much longer, maybe I'll find a winning lottery ticket whilst foraging through some tasty garbage! The odds of that will surely increase because I'll be spending a lot more time rooting through trash.

I really need to figure out a way to get more money or I'm gonna be in deep shit. A job of some sort would be nice. One thing I won't do is resort to crime. Sleeping under a bridge is preferable to prison. What I'd really like to do is raise some chickens or something. But you need money to get that sort of thing started, and I don't think the wife would be up for it anyway.

Why is money so important? More importantly, why do I never seem to have enough? Just as the weather gets nasty, I'm looking at sleeping under a bridge. Well, that answers my original question: Money is important because it prevents you from having to sleep under a bridge.

bingo!

i've thought exactly the same thing on days where i've applied for ten or more jobs. it gets to be like, "what's the point?"

Money is important...

because the hookers who will visit you under that bridge do not work for free. It's all about priorities in this world.

yeah,

because if the choice is rent or hookers, the hookers win every time.

(note to the irony-impaired: that's ironic)
